Firstable, Paul and Linda, went to Scottland and knew two musicians whose names were Denny Laine (Ex- Moody Blues) and Denny Seiwell. So, they decided to make a new band. -Paul loved touring, and The Beatles forgot it in the middle of 1966- So, Linda joined to the band, on keyboards, and then, realeased a new album called RAM, -Paul made a solo album, but it was a disaster in America, succeeding in Europe. This "RAM" contained, songs that the rest of the ex beatles took as personal, like Too Many People, Dear Boy, and specially 3 legs. John Lennon -as people said- made a kind of response of "Too Many People" called "How do you sleep", as Paul said once, in 1984 "when we just make a song talking about them, they make a complete album". But John, in 1975, also said, that "How do you sleep" was dedicated to himself.
"Too Many People" were directed at Lennon. "In one song, I wrote, 'Too many people preaching practices,' I think is the line. I mean, that was a little dig at John and Yoko. There wasn't anything else on [Ram] that was about them. Oh, there was 'You took your lucky break and broke it in two.'"
Also, people say that, the cover is a response of an image of John Lennon holding a pig by its ears, trying to say that the pig was Paul.
The album was already released on May 28-1971 (UK) and May 17-1971 (US), and was only credited to Linda -Linda's vocals were very criticized at the begining- and Paul.
The band was formed in Scottland, and then in New york, with Denny Seiwell on drums, David Spinozza on guitar with Hugh McCraken, and Marvin Stamm with fluge in "Uncle Albert/Admiral Halsey"But the band was not call "Wings" yet. Some songs were unrealeased then, but watched light for the first time on 1973, such as "Little Lamb Dragonfly", "Dear Friend" and "Get on the right thing"
By then "Another day/ Oh Woman Oh why" tracks had succeed in a fantastic way.
As wikipedia says:
"The Back Seat of My Car" was excerpted as a UK single from Ram that August, only reaching #39, but the US release of the ambitious "Uncle Albert/Admiral Halsey" would prove much more successful, giving McCartney his first #1 single after The Beatles. The album reached #1 in the UK and #2 in the US, where it spent over five months in the Top 10 and went platinum.
In 1977, McCartney supervised the release of an instrumental interpretation of Ram (recorded in June 1971 and arranged by Richard Hewson) with the release of Thrillington under the pseudonym of Percy "Thrills" Thrillington.
In 1993, Ram was remastered and reissued on CD as part of "The Paul McCartney Collection" series with "Another Day" and "Oh Woman, Oh Why" as bonus tracks.
